Early 1950s Style Acetate Souvenir Jacket USS PRINCETON × MAIKO

当時の生産数が少なく、ヴィンテージ市場でもレアとされるミリタリー柄のスカジャン。
表面のモチーフとなっているのは、米海軍の航空母艦「プリンストン」。胸に配された第77機動部隊のマークと、背中に刺繍されたCV-37の艦番号から、朝鮮戦争中の1950～52年の間に日本へ寄港した際、同隊のためにカスタムオーダーされた一着であることが読み取れる。
ブラック×シルバーのボディに対し、袖のパイピングやリブにはネイビーを採用。濃色同士のトーンをあえてずらすことで、全体をまとめすぎないバランスに仕上げており、こうした配色感覚もヴィンテージに倣った仕様となっている。

リバーシブル面は、ヴィンテージ市場でも特に珍しい舞妓柄。ジャパンマップと舞妓を組み合わせた図案は存在するものの、舞妓を主役として大きく描いた構図は非常に希少とされる。
ボディはシャンパンゴールド×ワインレッドの「逆配色」。丁寧に結い上げられた髪、うなじが覗く抜き襟の着物、だらりと結ばれた長い帯まで、舞妓の美しい後ろ姿を横振り刺繍で緻密に表現した、風情ある仕上がりとなっている。

スーベニアジャケットのなかで最もスタンダードとされる、両面にアセテート生地を使用したリバーシブルタイプ。戦後当時のスカジャンには、シルクに似た高級感を持つ物資統制外品目のアセテートが用いられていた。中綿を入れない仕様のため季節を問わず着用でき、アセテート特有の美しいドレープ感も魅力のひとつとなっている。

A military-pattern souvenir jacket produced in limited numbers at the time, now considered rare in the vintage market.
The front motif features the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier “USS Princeton.” The Task Force 77 insignia on the chest and the CV-37 hull number embroidered on the back indicate that this jacket was custom-ordered for the unit during a visit to Japan between 1950 and 1952, amid the Korean War.
The black and silver body is accented with navy piping and ribbing on the sleeves. By deliberately shifting the tones among dark colors, the overall look avoids being overly uniform—an approach faithful to original vintage specifications.

The reversible side showcases an exceptionally rare Maiko (apprentice geisha) motif, even by vintage standards. While designs combining a map of Japan with a Maiko do exist, compositions that place the Maiko boldly at the center are extremely uncommon.
Rendered in a champagne gold and wine red “reverse color” scheme, the design captures the elegance of the Maiko’s back view in fine horizontal embroidery—from her meticulously arranged hair and exposed nape framed by a lowered kimono collar, to the long obi sash draped gracefully behind—resulting in a piece rich in atmosphere and detail.

ACETATE SOUVENIR JACKET

The most standard form of souvenir jacket, featuring a fully reversible construction with acetate fabric on both sides. In the postwar era, acetate—an unrestricted material with a luxurious, silk-like sheen—was commonly used in original sukajan. With no padding, the jacket can be worn year-round, while the distinctive drape unique to acetate remains one of its defining characteristics.
