テーラー東洋 ベトナムジャケット TT15977 VIETNAM MAP Mid 1960s Style

ベトナム戦争時、米軍の軍港が置かれた都市 NHATRANG（ニャチャン）。その地に1966〜67年に駐留していた兵士のカスタムオーダーによる一着。胸に虎と「福」の文字、背中にはベトナムマップをあしらったベトジャンのオーソドックスなデザインだが、戦争に対するやるせなさを綴ったメッセージをマップの上下に分けて配した個性的な刺繍のレイアウトが特徴となっている。ヴィンテージで見つかるベトジャンの多くはブラックベースの配色であるため、今回復刻したグリーンやレッドの配色は現存数が少なく、コレクターからの人気も高い。

VIETNAM JACKET 

戦後の日本で誕生したスカジャン同様、1960年代から1970年代のベトナム戦争時に生まれたスーベニアジャケットが、通称ベトジャン。コットンツイル、もしくはカモフラージュ柄のポンチョライナーの2種類の生地が主に使われ、マットな太めの色糸で絵柄が刺繍されている。

【 Lot No. TT15977 / Mid 1960s Style Cotton Vietnam Jacket “VIETNAM MAP” 】

During the Vietnam War, NHATRANG was home to a U.S. military port. This jacket is based on a custom-ordered piece worn by a U.S. soldier stationed there from 1966 to 1967. The orthodox Vietnam jacket design features a tiger and the character “Fuku” (fortune) embroidered on the chest, with a map of Vietnam across the back. Its distinctive layout places a message expressing the soldier’s sorrow and frustration toward the war above and below the map. Since most surviving vintage Vietnam jackets feature a black base, the green and red colorways reproduced for this model are particularly rare and highly sought after by collectors.

VIETNAM JACKET

Similar to the souvenir jackets known as “Sukajan,” which originated in postwar Japan, the souvenir jackets produced during the Vietnam War from the 1960s through the 1970s are commonly known as Vietnam jackets. They were primarily made from either cotton twill or camouflage-patterned poncho liner fabric, with their motifs embroidered using thick, matte-colored threads.
