1960年代中期、ベトナムの都市・PLEIKU（プレイク）の米軍基地に駐留していた兵士がアメリカへ持ち帰った一着を再現。刺繍は右胸に虎、左胸に「福」の文字、両袖に龍、背中にベトナムの地図を描いたベトジャンにおける王道のデザイン。ヴィンテージのベトジャンには刺繍が粗い個体も多いが、本作は密度が高く優れたクオリティの刺繍を再現している。袖口にはヴィンテージ同様、古銭を模したボタンを採用。ブラックに加え、現存する個体数が少なく希少なオフホワイト生地のタイプも展開する。

VIETNAM JACKET

戦後の日本で誕生したスカジャン同様、1960年代から1970年代のベトナム戦争時に生まれたスーベニアジャケットが、通称ベトジャン。コットンツイル、もしくはカモフラージュ柄のポンチョライナーの2種類の生地が主に使われ、マットな太めの色糸で絵柄が刺繍されている。

【 Lot No. TT15892 / Mid 1960s Style Cotton Vietnam Jacket “VIETNAM MAP” 】

This piece reproduces a jacket brought back to the United States by a soldier stationed at the U.S. military base in PLEIKU, a city in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, during the mid-1960s. The embroidery follows a classic Vietnam jacket layout: a tiger on the right chest, the character “Fuku” (good fortune) on the left chest, dragons on both sleeves, and a map of Vietnam across the back. While many vintage Vietnam jackets show rough stitching, this model recreates a higher-density embroidery with excellent workmanship. As seen on original pieces, coin-style buttons are used at the cuffs. In addition to black, a rare off-white body — seldom found among surviving vintage examples — is also offered.

VIETNAM JACKET

Like the Sukajan jackets that originated in post-war Japan, the souvenir jackets produced during the Vietnam War from the 1960s to the 1970s are commonly called “Vietnam jackets.” They were typically made from cotton twill or camouflage poncho liner fabric, and the designs were embroidered using matte, thick threads.
